“Spakausky’s Scoop”

Blank Book-
If possible, please send a blank book to school with your child. We will write and illustrate a story called, My Mommy's Not a Mummy. You can purchase these books at the Chalkboard teacher's store on Butterfield Road (next to Cheeseburger in Paradise) or at Let's Learn on 75th and Lemont Road (behind Home Run Inn Pizza).

YEAH-Your efforts have paid off! Our class has won the Box Top collection contest. We have collected the most Box Tops in 3rd grade and the PTO wants to reward us. We will be having a pizza party on
Friday, May 23rd during lunch! Yeah!

Monday, June 2nd-Chicago Boat Trip
Chaperones-I can take as many parents that want to go. You will have to pay for your boat ticket and drive separately. Check your calendars. What a great way to end the school year!!!

Spelling
Lesson 32 this week.

Reading-
We are reading a novel about Helen Keller and we are doing summaries on each chapter.
The students are presenting their biography posters on Thursday, 5/15 and Friday, 5/16.

Independent Reading Program-
Folders & Money are due Mon., June 2nd
May Reading Party-Tuesday, June 3rd
For the last reading party we will get McFlurries from McDonalds. The students will bring their lunch or get hot lunch and we will just order the McFlurry. (Orea or M&M)
$2.50 due by Monday, June 2nd!
*Let's have 100% participation for our last reading party!
*I need a volunteer to pick them up about 11:00A.M. For an 11:15 delivery!

Social Studies-
Downers Grove-Ask your child to tell you about some important people in D.G.'s history!
Ask your child what they learned about on the D.G. Field trip. What was Pierce Downer's cellar used for? Why were him and his wife buried on the hill and not in the Main Street Cemetery?

Spakausky's Math Update-
Chapter 11-Fractions
The second checkpoint quiz will be on Monday, 5/19 and the chapter 11 test will be on Wednesday, 5/21, not Tuesday, 5/20.
